Behind the Scenes with Michael Angelakos of Passion Pit and the PS22 Choir

PS22 is a group of some pretty awesome, smart and talented kids. They've performed and recorded with a number of the world's favorite artists like Tori Amos, Crowded House and now Passion Pit. You've already heard them on the new single "The Reeling," which I have posted a number of times, but they're on "Little Secrets" and "Let Your Love Grow Tall" as well. I'd go as far as to say that the best tracks on the Manners album are those three.

Under the direction of Gregg Breinberg, these 5th graders create a beautiful blend of harmony and soul. Gotta love these little people with big voices. Unfortunately, these little guys will graduate from the 5th grade and most likely go on to public school's that don't have a music program. Which is why it's a good idea for you to join the national effort of keeping music in schools.

Video: Empire of the Sun's "Standing on the Shore"

Wow, I love it when acts get creative with their videos. The third single from Empire of the Sun's Walking on a Dream debut album is "Standing On The Shore" is out now. The video (directed by Josh Logue) and the trailer were shot in Perth, Australia. Apart from the usual fashion of surreal colors and fantastic imagery, the Standing On The Shore video features special effects and dancing swordfish girls (allusion to "Swordfish Hotkiss Night"? I think so.) flailing in the sand. Lord Littlemore is off fighting other evils or something.

PS The supposed battle between MGMT and Empire of the Sun is all in the fans' heads. There is no battle. I say enjoy them both.

Phew! I am currently working on a mix that I'm really excited about. It's a themed playlist that's kind of got a Rocky feel to it. Reeling from the Reeling (New Passion Pit)

The new Passion Pit record, Manners is going to be massive just like this single. The beat moves this song constantly and the wild falsetto-yelling vocals are controlled even. It's amazing. I can't wait to see them at the Granada in June!
